About Mossimo

In 1986, noticing the growing popularity of surf and street fashion in California, 20 year old Uni student, Mossimo Gianulli, started making shorts for beach volleyball and peddled them up and down the shore.

Mossimo Gianulli dropped out of the University of Southern California and borrowed $100,000 from his father to finance his dream. Armed with an entrepreneurial strategy based on marketing, Gianulli begins making ‘active-wear’, selling to local surf shops. By the end of his first year, Gianulli had grossed $1 million and generated enough sales to pay his father back.
